In what order should scaling and soothing care be performed?
I am looking into dermatology consultations due to skin troubles. Rather than blindly choosing a fixed package or a specific scaling treatment, I wanted to have my skin barrier and condition assessed to determine if I truly need any care first.
I am curious whether, during the consultation, you immediately start with exfoliation simply because the skin is rough, or if you proceed with soothing and moisturizing first, considering the degree of inflammation and barrier damage. I would also like to know if you treat areas with varying oil levels and irritation, such as the cheeks and chin, uniformly, or if you adjust the intensity differently for each area. Regarding extraction, I am also curious how you distinguish between acne that needs to be treated and blemishes that need to be monitored during the examination.
When I go for a consultation, would it be helpful for the diagnosis if I wrote down the types and usage frequency of the facial cleansers, moisturizers, and exfoliation products I usually use? I am also curious if there are any tips on checking home care ingredients that should be avoided before the procedure or prescription ointments.
I would appreciate advice from those who have experienced this, including whether they explain in advance when to wash your face or resume makeup after treatment, precautions against friction, as well as the criteria for temporary redness and reactions that require separate medical attention at the clinic!
