I'm considering laser treatment for old acne scars. Will there actually be any change on the pitted marks as well?

I thought I had almost gotten over acne, but the marks are still right there on my face.

I had quite severe acne from my late teens to early twenties, so I have pitted scars on both cheeks from that time. Now, I only get a single breakout occasionally, so I'm not too worried about the acne itself, but when the light hits it from the side, the bumpy appearance of my cheeks is very noticeable.

It looks okay under frontal lighting, but in places where the light comes down from above, like cafes or elevators, shadows form and the scar becomes really visible lol. Even makeup can't cover things like that.

I had stopped paying attention to it for a few years, thinking I just had to live with it, but recently I became interested again after seeing posts about managing acne scars with laser treatments.

What I'm wondering is whether it's worth managing old scars. It's a pitted scar that formed several years ago; if I start laser treatment now, can I expect the skin texture to become even slightly smoother?

I think it is realistically difficult for it to disappear completely, haha. However, I think I would be quite satisfied if the indented part just stood out less than it does now when receiving light from the side.

Also, I’ve heard that scar laser treatments have a long recovery period. For those of you who have actually received it, what was your experience like? I’m curious if the redness is just a minor issue, if scabs or peeling occur, and how many days it takes before you feel comfortable meeting people.

I have days when I can work from home, so I'm thinking of planning to get the pay on Friday and rest through the weekend. I'm also wondering if that is feasible.

Most of all, I am curious if this is a procedure where I can judge the results after just one or two sessions. Since the scar is old, I expect to need multiple treatments, but I would like to hear about actual experiences to see if there is a point where the difference becomes noticeable in photos after continuing the sessions.

If anyone has consistently received laser treatments for pitted acne scars, how satisfied were you with the results compared to your initial condition? I am also curious if you felt it was worth the effort, considering the cost and recovery period.

It's an old scar, so I keep hesitating, wondering if it's okay to do it now.
