Is it possible to remove scars from mole removal (protruding keloids)?

I had a mole removed at another dermatologist's office, but the area around it swelled up and protruded like a keloid. Is it possible to get rid of the scar? What kind of treatment should I use?

I never had keloid reactions before and no other areas developed them, but only one area did.
