Am I the only one whose skin turns white and flaky by the afternoon?
My biggest concern these days is that my skin gets extremely dry by the afternoon. In the morning, I apply my skincare thoroughly and my makeup goes on well, but after lunch and into the afternoon, the areas around my mouth and chin become rough and flaky, with white dead skin cells appearing as shown in the photo. It is particularly severe around my nasolabial folds and the corners of my mouth; it feels tight when I smile or speak, and my makeup looks patchy, so it really bothers me.
I didn't usually think of my skin as dry, but it seems to have gotten particularly worse lately. I'm not sure if it's because I wash my face too harshly, the air conditioning, or if my skin barrier has weakened. I'm worried because even when I apply a generous amount of moisturizing cream, dead skin cells start flaking back up like this by the afternoon.
Is there anyone else like me whose skin becomes flaky or dry by the afternoon? I would appreciate any advice regarding moisturizing products that have been effective, methods for managing the skin barrier, or if you know the cause of these symptoms. I am also wondering if this is serious enough to warrant treatment from a dermatologist.
