I have questions about managing adult acne.

I have some questions about acne management.
I'm not a teenager, I'm an adult, but I still have acne on my face.
It doesn't seem to be abscessed, so it's not that bad, but it's still there.
I'm wondering if this is because I don't take care of my acne, or if it persists regardless of age or acne management.
If I go to a dermatologist and get acne treatment, will my skin go back to how it was before I had acne?
Or I wonder if I should continue to live with acne management and treatment.
