I am curious about who should I recommend acne treatment for. I am worried about my middle school son.

I'm worried because my middle school son has been getting a lot of acne lately.
At first, I watched, thinking it was natural because of puberty, but I noticed redness appearing not only on the forehead and around the nose but also on the cheeks. The child pretends not to care, but seeing how long they look in the mirror while washing their face, it seems they are bothered by it themselves.

So I am looking into acne treatment, and I am wondering in what cases it would be best to start treatment at a dermatologist. I'm not sure if home care is sufficient for minor bumps that look like millet seeds, or if it is right to get treatment if I have recurring red, inflamed acne. I worry that I might be taking them too early, but on the other hand, I'm also concerned that it might be too late and leave scars.

Has anyone had their middle school child receive acne treatment? I am curious about the severity of the condition at which treatment is recommended, and whether it is a burdensome process for children. I would also like to know if the extractions are very painful and if there will be any inconvenience in school life after treatment. Please share your experiences on whether it would be better to start with a consultation naturally so that the child does not become too sensitive.
