I would like to ask how to decide whether to receive only acne management or to consult about treating the underlying cause as well.

As I have acne-prone skin, I was reading the Maypure acne guide and noticed that acne management, sebum control, treatment of the underlying cause, and scar treatment are categorized separately. I am writing this post to ask for the criteria on whether consistent management is sufficient or if it is better to address the underlying cause as well.
I would like to know how causal treatment is conducted, whether it is determined solely based on skin condition during the initial consultation, or if lifestyle habits are also inquired about. I would also like to ask if I need to mention any medications I am currently taking before the consultation.
I am curious about how sebum management differs from treatment for the underlying cause, and whether receiving only one of them is sufficient. If I undergo both management and treatment, how often should I schedule my visits?
