Melasma that appeared after a round of golf... Can it be treated with Pico Dual Toning?

My melasma suddenly flared up after just a few rounds of golf. I heard that it gets deeper if left untreated, so I'm looking into Pico Dual Toning. Would it be effective for someone like me who spends a lot of time outdoors? I'm also curious if scabs form after the procedure!
