Fine hairs keep growing on my chin and philtrum. Should I consult about laser hair removal or waxing?
Since turning forty, the fine hairs on my chin, philtrum, and the edges of my cheeks have noticeably thickened. I used to be able to cover them with makeup, but lately, by the afternoon, the area under my chin feels rough and the dark hairs are clearly visible, which is stressful. Plucking them with tweezers leaves marks, and shaving causes redness the next day and even causes breakouts. I am planning to get a consultation for laser hair removal, but since this is my first time having it done on my face, I have many questions. I am wondering which device—Alexandrite or diode—is better suited for narrow, thick hair like on the chin and philtrum, and I am also concerned that the laser might irritate the pigmentation, as I have light melasma on my cheekbones. I would also like to know how many sessions are required at intervals of 4 to 6 weeks, how much pain and anesthetic cream are needed, and whether it is okay to wear makeup or a mask on the day of the procedure. I would also like to know how many days I should avoid waxing or plucking beforehand, and whether it is advisable to take herpes preventive medication before the philtrum procedure. I would appreciate advice from those with experience or from the clinic director.
