On a late winter night when dieting is at its peak, I calm my mind with some home care.
It's already late at night, approaching 9:40. The cold wind outside has me turning up the boiler temperature a bit more than usual, and the living room air has quickly become warm yet very dry. I decided to start a diet this year, determined to be healthy, but the smell of my family's late-night snack wafting from the kitchen just now nearly broke me... They say resolutions last three days, but tonight, sticking to New Year's resolutions feels truly tiring and exhausting.
As I tried to calm my hunger by drinking a cup of warm barley tea, it suddenly occurred to me that it would be better to nourish my skin rather than indulge my palate. Looking at myself in the mirror, perhaps because of the cold wind and indoor heat, my skin looked unusually dull and wrinkled, and my heart grew heavy. So I quickly washed my face, diligently applied my basic skincare, and then took out a sheet mask and placed it on my face.
In fact, I used to be so greedy that I'd put on a sheet mask every night, but as I get older, I feel like my skin needs a little more breathing room. These days, in the dead of winter, my skin is more sensitive than ever, so I usually stick to using a sheet mask every other day. I limit myself to using products with a lot of nutrients once a week, and I find that using a light, soothing hydrating mask on a regular basis actually reduces tightness and makes me feel more comfortable. I'm curious to know how you find your own way to stay energized during this dry season. I'll resist the temptation to eat with this refreshing sheet mask and head to bed early tonight.
