How long does exfoliation usually last?

My skin is on the sensitive side, so I'm hesitant to manage it on my own at home and am thinking of visiting a salon. I'm curious how long the exfoliation care lasts. Once I get a proper peel or scaling treatment, how long does the soft, smooth skin condition usually last?

While it may vary from person to person, I would like to know if I need to combine it with home care to prolong the effects of exfoliation. I would appreciate your advice on whether I need to receive treatments consistently once a week, or if once a month is sufficient since the effects last longer than expected.
