Dead skin cells appearing every afternoon... How do you manage dehydrated skin?
I'm so stressed out about my skin these days. It was definitely fine in the morning, but strangely, as soon as the afternoon comes, it starts to flake off, starting from around my mouth. My makeup also seemed to go on well in the morning, but when I look in the mirror after lunch, it all cakes up... I don't know why this is happening.
I originally thought I had oily skin, so I only focused on controlling the sebum. But I looked it up and found out that it could actually be internal dryness. I wonder if that's really the case... My face is shiny, but it feels tight to the touch, and the corners of my mouth feel tight when I smile.
I've tried exfoliating, but it's fine for a day or two, then the cycle repeats. I'm worried that doing it too often might just make my skin more sensitive, so I barely do it now. I've also tried applying moisturizer, even a generous amount before bed, but while it's okay the next morning, it goes back to the same problem by the afternoon.
I thought maybe I wasn't drinking enough water, so I consciously tried to drink more, but I don't feel much of a difference. I also use face masks a few times a week, but I'm not sure if that's actually working. I don't know what else I should do.
It is especially bad around the sides of my nose, chin, and mouth. Every time I look in the mirror, my skin looks flaky and messy, so it bothers me. It also makes me upset because it makes my skin look older than it actually is.
Is there anyone else like me who gets flaky skin by the afternoon? I’ve seen posts recommending skin boosters or "dewy skin" treatments from dermatologists, and I’m curious if those procedures actually help. I’m also wondering if anyone has seen improvement just through home care, so please let me know if there are any products or skincare routines you’ve used and seen results from. I don’t even know what to change first anymore. This flow feels natural, like a genuine post about a concern on a community forum, without feeling like an advertisement.
